2005 Shiraz
Dark red with a purple hue. The nose is quite restrained and primary. Dark forest fruits, fennel,five-spice, pepper and vanillan oak all show influences. The palate is well structured with rich, youthful fruit characters, aniseed, black pepper and other savoury notes. A well-rounded, lush palate with good length and rich tannins.

Sour-sweet wine of dimension and class. More Burgundy-styled than Rhone-styled. Glossy, bright cherry-plum flavours with pure cedar, undergrowth, soy and sap, the tannin finish on it quite exemplary. Needs another three years in bottle. Drink: 2011-2015. 91 points.

This is a brooding, silken, textural wine blessed with meat and cedar and pepper and black cherry, but most noted for the beautiful feel in your mouth. You don’t want to let it go.

Impeccable cool Victorian shiraz, with red fruits framed by an array of exotic spices; the key here is the texture, as it is silky and very supple, with attractive oak and fruit in complete harmony; has a distinctly European feel. Cork. 15%alc. Rating 95. Drink 2020
