2008 Stuart Pinot
Like the 2006, the 2008 Stuart Pinot also uses 100% whole bunches in the winemaking. Apart from that similarity, it is a very different beast from the 2006...in short, it is mad! The nose is very complex with lots of leaf litter, forest floor and savoury mushroom characters, more savoury rather than "primary fruit", with spice and perfume from the whole bunches. The palate is rich and dark with plenty of structure. There is abundant fine tannin and some real presence. Quite a bold Bannockburn Pinot Noir. Only 100 dozen made.

Since taking over here in 2005, Michael Glover has introduced some cautious changes resulting in exquisite new wines: this is outstandingly complex pinot noir with great finesse and length.

This Stuart Pinot is differentiated by the method of fermenting only whole bunches of Pinot grapes; that's right 100%. It brings an upwards spiral of complex aromatics to the nose, hard-baking spices and cherry fruits. The palate's where it all unfolds amazing textural density, super-soft pillow like flesh and fine long dense tannins sweep through the finish. Superb. 96pts.

"

This is an extraordinarily ethereal, focused pinot noir, highly aromatic with earthy, truffle notes: builds on the palate with velvety tannins. Complex, totally beguiling and will reward even more in years to come.
