2008 Riesling
Clear, bright appearance. Youthful straw colour with green tinges. The nose is very restrained. There are chalky, slate, mineral characters...sherbert in there as well. The citrus characters are present but very much in the background. It is actually quite reminiscent of a young warm vintage Mosel. The palate too is very reminiscent of young Mosel. Lots of flavour and presence without any phenolic hardness at the back. Lovely balance between sugar and acid. The lower alcohol creates the sensation of lightness on the palate. This wine is lovely now, chilled and drunk as an afternoon aperitif or put away in the cellar where i suspect it will evolve for many, many years.

This is well and truly in the sweeter end of the spectrum with rich creamed honeysuckle aromas, fragrance and gentle minerals below. The palate's all lined up by some assertive acidity, chalky apple and pear drop flavour, more honey and a smooth texture glide; citrus to close. 92 points.

An unexpectedly semi-sweet riesing style, a kind of Geelong kabinett which is a little subdued on the nose but delicious in the mouth. The superb fruit flavour is deftly balanced by precision sweetness and acidity. Just 10.5 per cent alcohol. 92pts.
